Registered Nurse (RN)

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Assess patients to identify appropriate nursing interventions
  • Collaborate with members of an interdisciplinary health team to plan, implement, co-ordinate and evaluate patient care in consultation with patients and their families
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed per protocol
  • Supervise LPN and other nursing staff
  • Teach and counsel patients and their families on health-related issues
  • Restores & promotes patient health by completing the nursing process
  • Collaborates with physicians and multidisciplinary team members
  • Provides physical, emotional & psychological support to patients friends and family
  • Identifies patient requirements by establishing personal rapport with patients and their families
  • Assures quality of care by adhering to therapeutic standards, measuring health outcomes against patient care goals and hospital standards
  • Resolve patient problems, needs and maintains their confidence
  • Maintains a safe and clean work environment
  • Variable setting (long-term care, hospital, retirement facilities) might involve a wide range of responsibilities incl. patient assessment, medication administration, taking vital signs, blood pressure, skin treatment, and wound care, and also heavy duties such as positioning patient and occasional lifting to make assessments
  • Monitor patients’ progress, evaluate the effectiveness of the nursing intervention and consult with appropriate members of the healthcare team
  • Perform duties according to Nursing Standards for Registered Nurses set by the College of Nurses, possess high ethical qualities towards patients, family members, and co-workers. Continuing education and skills upgrades
  • Participating in workshops, courses, and other educational activities and programs, demonstrate the ability and wiliness to upgrade nursing skills.
  • Present recent participation in development/continuing education programs

Qualifications

  • Registered RN in good standing with the CNO (College of Nurses of Ontario)
  • Active membership of Ontario Practical Nurses Association Working environment

Job Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of relevant experience as a Registered Nurse at the Hospital/Long Term care facilities
  • Experience working with acutely/chronically ill and palliative patients
  • Clean background check
  • Valid driver license and vehicle insurance
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Willingness to travel within a designated area
  • Full immunization
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
